Kapsch TrafficCom and Universidad Pontificia Comillas discuss the future of mobility and road user charging.
Kapsch TrafficCom, in collaboration with Comillas Pontifical University, hosted a panel discussion concerning the future of movement and congestion in smart cities.
The discussion also focused on how the industry and urban planners can develop solutions that promote efficient, environmentally-friendly city transportation.
The partnership began in 2023 with the founding of the Kapsch Chair for Smart and Sustainable Mobility at the renowned Madrid university,

Both Kapsch and the university stated that the event represented a step towards advancing research on sustainable mobility and intelligent transport systems.
Comillas University professor of industrial engineering, Pedro Linares, said: “There are two major advantages when it comes to pricing.
“First, it helps you understand mobility demand, because you can see who is willing to pay to access a road or a restricted area.
“Secondly, prices allow funds to be raised that can be used to improve your transportation system. But it really depends on how you determine the prices if you want to have an impact.”
