Flow Labs and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Five have announced the successful launch of a region-wide, AI-powered, real-time traffic management system.
The system is now operational across 2,000 intersections in the Orlando metropolitan area.
This expansion represents one of the largest real-time traffic analytics deployments in the nation.
At the core of the deployment is a breakthrough capability: validated, real-time turning movement counts powered by Flow Labs’ proprietary AI.
Historically one of the most difficult and expensive datasets for agencies to obtain, turning movement counts have traditionally been limited to short-term manual field studies.
Flow Labs’ AI-enabled platform is the first to deliver this data continuously, accurately, and at scale, giving FDOT District Five and surrounding regions unprecedented visibility into how traffic flows through its network.
The live system equips FDOT with the ability to monitor, analyse, and respond to traffic conditions in real time, improving efficiency and supporting safety and congestion management initiatives across Central Florida.
CEO of Flow Labs, Jatish Patel, said: “By validating accuracy in the pilot, we built the foundation for trust and now that trust has turned into a live deployment at unprecedented scale.
“With the industry’s first AI-powered, real-time turning movement counts, FDOT can now leverage data that was once rare, costly, and static—transforming it into an operational tool for managing traffic every day.”
Achievements and innovations in traffic management will be recognised and celebrated at the fourth annual CiTTi Awards on 25 November 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. Visit www.cittiawards.co.uk to learn more about this unmissable event for the UK’s transportation sector!
