Hyundai Mobis has announced it will mass-produce its mid-range front-facing radar and camera sensors to commercial vehicles produced in Korea.
The radars and camera sensors are based on hardware and algorithms originally developed by Hyundai Mobis for advanced driver support systems inside passenger vehicles.
The camera sensors are embedded with a Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system with data convergence between radars and camera sensors. It calculates distance from the preceding vehicle and reduces vehicle speed in a dangerous situation.
Inside commercial vehicles, such as trucks, the front-facing camera sensors process information to analyse HD image data by applying multiple arithmetic systems.
The mid-range front-facing radars identify multiple targets simultaneously within a short distance and the same angle with a range of 170m, which, claims Hyundai Mobis, is the longest among commercial vehicles.
