In November 2025, Kapsch TrafficCom was awarded a contract extension for the delivery and technical maintenance of its Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system on the newly constructed Patras-Pyrgos Motorway in Greece.
The project, awarded by concessionaire Olympia Odos, will see Kapsch TrafficCom technology installed along the 65-kilometer stretch of the new A5 motorway (Patras – Pyrgos section).
The contract encompasses the installation of 14 new gantries equipped with Kapsch TrafficCom’s VDX cameras, supporting a hybrid tolling model that combines plaza and free-flow tolling.
The rebate payment approach of the system enables drivers to pay for the full road stretch upon entry, with rebates provided upon exit depending on the actual distance of road used.
This fair and transparent toll remuneration will help to move traffic from regional roads to category one highways, increasing safety and efficiency of the overall road network.

Delivery of the solution is scheduled to begin in January, with Kapsch TrafficCom also providing comprehensive third-level technical support to ensure system reliability and performance.
The MLFF system is designed to increase safety and faster transit by allowing users to pass time-consuming toll plazas, making the motorway an attractive option, especially for regular drivers in the region.
The Patras-Pyrgos Motorway was recently delivered and is expected to play a key role in improving connectivity and accessibility across the Peloponnese peninsula.
EVP EMEA at Kapsch TrafficCom, Carolin Treichl, said: “We are proud to support Olympia Odos in delivering a secure and efficient tolling solution that aligns with the latest industry standards.
“Our technology not only supports safer and faster journeys, but also better accessibility for drivers on the Peloponnese.”
