The City of Omaha has announced a new partnership with digital traffic management solution provider Causeway one.network to enhance its traffic communications.
Through the deployment of Traffic Management and Live Link, Omaha aims to modernise its approach to road safety, improve traffic flow and ensure real-time updates are delivered directly to the traveling public.
This will help the city communicate road disruptions and manages traffic across public works projects, police emergencies and major events.
The technology was launched in Omaha in June during the College World Series, when Omaha saw an influx of visitors and increased traffic near the downtown baseball stadium.
With Live Link, the city was able to dynamically activate and update closures, helping visitors and locals navigate the city safely and efficiently.
Later, Live Link was used to detour users around closures at South 29th and Farnam Streets, where the on-ramp to Interstate 480 was closed.
By providing real-time lane closures on high-traffic streets, users can view where traffic delays are occurring from their choice of navigation app.
Parking and mobility manager for the City of Omaha, Hannah Adeponu, said: “With Causeway one.network, we’ll be able to reduce driver frustration, improve safety and keep Omaha moving — especially in the fast-growing downtown area.
“Whether it’s a planned detour or an unexpected road closure, getting accurate information out quickly is critical.”
