Alexander Dennis has announced that CLP Power Hong Kong (CLP) has launched the first of four next-generation Enviro500EV zero-emission double deck buses.
CLP will reportedly use the fleet to provide transport services for employees commuting to and from its power stations.
The vehicles will replace the CLP’s existing fleet of Euro IV diesel-powered Alexander Dennis Enviro500, which will reportedly support Hong Kong government’s goal to achieve zero vehicular emissions and carbon neutrality before 2050.
CLP is the third Hong Kong bus company to operate the Enviro500EV that utilises the heavy-duty variant of the efficient Voith Electrical Drive System.

They also use LED lighting, and all passenger seats are equipped with seatbelt fastening detectors.
It combines this with 472kWh batteries whose clever packaging allows them to be fitted smartly within the bus, avoiding intrusion into the passenger space to increase room for passengers and deliver a conventional saloon seating layout.
Head of commercial finance (Asia Pacific) for Alexander Dennis, Michael Pothan, said: “This latest delivery of Alexander Dennis Enviro500EV confirms our next-generation double decker as a favourite for Hong Kong’s operating conditions, and introduces it to the private bus sector for the first time.
“CLP Power will benefit from its uncompromising design which is driving value through its focus on efficiency and longevity, while staff will enjoy smooth journeys to and from work.”
