Roadchef has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities at its Chester service station, with six new Shell Recharge ultra-rapid charging bays offering up to 300kW now available for use.
The newly installed chargers are equipped with Combined Charging System (CCS) connectors, providing compatibility with a wide range of modern electric vehicles.
The site combines multiple charging technologies, including both CCS and Chademo connectors, across 20 total charging points to serve the diverse needs of EV drivers traveling through this location.
These ultra-rapid chargers allow drivers to recharge quickly and efficiently, ensuring they can get back on the road with minimal delay.
All Shell Recharge points at the site accept contactless payment, provide real-time status updates to popular car charging apps, and use 100% renewable energy.
With this latest expansion, Roadchef now has 5160 rapid and ultra-rapid charge points available across the North West of England.
Director of EV implementation at Roadchef Paul Comer said: “The addition of these new EV chargers at Chester highlights our ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable travel and expanding the EV charging network across the UK.
“We’re delighted that our partnership with Shell has allowed us to enhance our charging facilities and continue to evolve to meet the needs of the modern motorist.”
Achievements in EV charging infrastructure will be recognised and celebrated at the fourth annual CiTTi Awards on 25 November 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. Visit www.cittiawards.co.uk to learn more about this unmissable event for the UK’s transportation sector!
