Panattoni Park Aylesford in Kent has become the UK’s first logistics park to incorporate an electric heavy goods vehicle (e-HGV) charging station, following the granting of planning permission for its final plot.
The milestone marks the completion of Panattoni’s redevelopment of the 90-acre site, which has been fully let to major occupiers including Amazon, DHL, Evri, Tesco and Fowler Welch.
Collectively, these businesses employ around 4,000 people at the site, now the largest single employment location in Tonbridge and Malling and contributing an estimated £180m to the local economy.
The e-HGV charging facility will be developed by Milence, a joint venture between Daimler Truck, the Traton Group and Volvo Group. Once operational, it will provide up to eight dedicated charging bays.
The project builds on Milence’s launch of its first UK charging hub at the Port of Immingham in March.

Panattoni has invested £250m in transforming the former brownfield site since acquiring it in August 2021.
Sustainable construction methods included recycling 127,000m³ of reinforced concrete from previous buildings, reducing HGV movements and avoiding more than 157,000kg of CO₂ emissions.
All buildings on site have achieved BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certification and incorporate rooftop and canopy solar PV systems with a combined renewable energy capacity of 7MVA.
Additional measures include e-bike charging stations, EV-ready car parks and a car share scheme to enhance sustainable transport options.
Tony Watkins, head of development for south east and London at Panattoni, said the charging station will establish the site as “the benchmark for high-performance, environmentally responsible logistics infrastructure”.
“We have transformed the site since purchasing it in August 2021, repurposing tonnes of reinforced concrete, recycling tonnes of metal and delivering more than 1 million ft² of high-quality, environmentally high-performing buildings for our world-class tenants, as well as a £7m link road to support the local transport network.”
Achievements in EV charging infrastructure will be recognised and celebrated at the fourth annual CiTTi Awards on 25 November 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. Visit www.cittiawards.co.uk to learn more about this unmissable event for the UK’s transportation sector!
