Mapping and location platform services provider, Here Technologies, has announced a partnership with UK mobility analytics company, Citi Logik, to monitor, analyse and manage urban movement in smart cities.
Together the companies will integrate Here’s Real-Time Traffic and Speed Data technology into Citi Logik’s web-based, real-time city analysis tool, CitiAnalytics, which is designed to enable cities to better understand congestion, traffic counts, people movement and pollution.
Derived and based on underlying IoT data sources, including mobile phone data, CitiAnalytics now utilizes GPS data from Here, combining various data sources to help cities manage their environments dynamically without relying on conventional hardware-based infrastructure.
HERE’s Real-Time Traffic solution aggregates and analyses data from a range of sources, including vehicle sensor data from various automotive OEMs, to depict real-world traffic conditions. Furthermore, HERE Speed Data technology delivers vehicle speed information from trillions of HERE-built GPS probe data points, covering three years of historic data for traffic analytics.
“We are excited about the opportunities that the partnership with HERE Technologies will offer,” said John Rands, CTO at Citi Logik. “We believe that the combination of speed data from HERE and our experience with other IoT sources will provide cities across the world with a powerful, cost-effective means of understanding their cities and improving outcomes for citizens and businesses.”
HERE Technologies EMEAR sales director, Dieter Lange, added: “Increasing levels of urbanisation create the need for cities to better predict, manage and plan future urban movement. Accurate real-time traffic and historical speed data play an important role for this. “We’re happy to collaborate with Citi Logik, because they understand the value that data from different, complementary sources and its analytics can provide cities to improve urban planning, relieve congestion and curb pollution for better quality of life.”
