Ride-hailing service provider Lyft, Inc. has announced it has completed its acquisition of multi-mobility app Freenow.
Lyft stated that the decision was motivated by the large usership within its operational areas, with the Lyft app opened 4.6 million times since the start of 2024 within Freenow’s markets.
Additionally, the Freenow app has been used 1.2 million times since the start of 2024 within Lyft’s markets.
The merger could potentially double Lyft’s current addressable market to more than 300 billion personal vehicle trips per year.
Both companies will continue collaborating closely to integrate the best of their technologies, operations, and user experiences.
Freenow CEO Thomas Zimmermann and his leadership team will report to Jeremy Bird, EVP of Driver Experience at Lyft.
Country general managers at Freenow will continue to lead strategic operations in Ireland, the UK, Germany, Greece, Spain, Italy, Poland, France, and Austria.
Lyft CEO David Risher said: “Every conversation I’ve had with Freenow drivers and team members has reminded me why we’re joining forces: to bring the best of each company to the other.
“This isn’t just about growing our business. It’s about serving and connecting people worldwide.”
