The Italian national purchasing center for public administration, Consip, has launched a new tender for 600 electric buses that are valued at €650m (c.£561m).
The tender will reportedly be organised into five main categories that are then subdivided into sub-lots which will source a range of vehicle types to meet diverse operational needs.
The smallest vehicles requested are urban electric minibuses, with 70 units split between 5-meter and 6-meter models, both featuring plug-in battery charging.

The largest volume of vehicles comes from the standard 12-meter category, totaling 250 units; this includes 190 plug-in urban buses and 60 Class II interurban models.
Lastly, articulated buses account for 50 units, split between 35 plug-in and 15 pantograph-charged 18-meter vehicles.
